🍿 Movie Marathon Planner

Add your films and their runtimes, set a break between them, and see the total time — plus the exact clock time you'll finish, even if it rolls past midnight.

🍿 Plan Your Marathon

What is a Movie Marathon Planner?

It answers the two questions every marathon host has: how long will this take, and when will we be done? Enter each film's runtime and a break length, and it totals the whole session — screen time plus breaks — then, from a start time, computes the finish down to the minute, wrapping cleanly past midnight.

Use it to line up a trilogy night, a director's filmography, or a themed all-dayer without doing the arithmetic in your head. Remember trailers and setup add a little on top, so leave yourself a buffer.

❓ Frequently Asked Questions

How does the movie marathon planner work?

List every film in your line-up with its runtime in minutes and choose how long a break to leave between movies. The planner adds up all the runtimes, adds a break for every gap between films (never after the last one), and returns the total time as hours and minutes. Give it a start time and it also works out exactly when you'll finish.

Does it handle marathons that run past midnight?

Yes. The end time is computed with pure clock math, so a marathon that starts at 6pm and runs 6h 30m correctly rolls over to 00:30 and flags that it lands the next day. Multi-day binges show how many days later they end, too.

Should I add extra time for trailers and setup?

The total counts each film's runtime plus your chosen break. Trailers, ads, disc-swaps, and buffering between streams aren't included, so if you're watching physical media or ad-supported services, pad the schedule by a few minutes per film to be safe.

What's a good break length between films?

Fifteen minutes is a sensible default — enough for a bathroom break, a snack refill, and a stretch without losing momentum. For a longer marathon, a couple of longer breaks (say 30 minutes for a proper meal) help you go the distance; adjust the break value to match your plan.
